Today, there were a few coaches or people who came to our school hired by Adam Khoo, a MULTI-MILLIONHEIR( did i spell correctly?). Anyway, our trainer was called Melvin and there is a Melvin in our class, so, everyone said "OOO melvin u work for Adam Khoo ar!" some stuff like tat, i shall not dwell on it because it is not that important. Firstly, he told us some jokes and things about what he did when he was in primary and secondary school. When he was in primary 5, he used to buy chicken wing and feed it to the chicken. In P6 I think, he bought ice, maybe he took it from drinks, he would bite the ice into tiny pieces and to spit it through a straw and it would hit people. Later, he got caught and was brought to the principal, he principal gave him another chance. Melvin and his friend then went to shoot something that would not complain, (he did not want to get in to trouble). Can you guess what he "Shot"?
He "shot the school parrot, since it would only make " Kaw! Kaw!" Some thing like that. There were also a few quotes like: a) If I can do it, so can YOU! b)Every Choice has a Consequence( scares me, I hate consequences) c)Past is NOT equal to Future Some others that I may have forgotten or they may come to me anytime.
The coach was humorous. Very humorous. He could make a joke out of nearly anything. He taught us in a very 'interesting way'. I feel that his method was quite good, it was efficient as he won over everyone and there was no one that did not really listen to him ( I think ). There is also another thing that I learnt, that is we must accept COMPLIMENTS, he said that if we praise a Singaporean, they would usually say "Lucky only la nothing one la!" but if you praise an american or a caucasian they would say" Thank You" There Is also a difference between SHOWING OFF and Accepting COMPLImENTS( did I put it correctly?) Showing-off is like this(for those who do not know the difference)" HAHA! I got full marks, very pro right!" While Accepting Compliments is just saying thank you and being TOO humble is also not good. In my opinion, I feel that what he(Melvin) said was absolutely true any Singaporean that is praised will just be humble while some may be TOo humble. I would like to follow what he says and just accept a compliment without being humble.
Another thing that he talked about was SELF-ESTEEM, VERY IMPORTANT thing. It is actually the confidence inside of you. He told us to accept who we are: even if we are fat, ugly, pretty, handsome, stupid(not really), short etc. If everyone was born the same, then would there be celebrities, models, or even people to govern our country. The answer is obviously NO because everyone is the same. If everyone was perfect, there would not be the phrase "Practise makes perfect" because everyone is JUST TOTALLY PERFECT. no flaw. NOTHING. If you can accept your flaws, you should do something about it(no offense) Eg. you are REALLY fat, like a SUMO Wrestler, then you should slim down.
Next, Discipline, it is about doing the things you do not like, but it BENEFITS you. Eg. If A hates studying and he is taking his PSLE this year, A must have Discipline, he should think like this " I only need to study about 10 months, then I can play. Play computer all daylong till I get sick of playing computer games. " If he thinks like this, he will be able to get good results and be able to play like "SIAO" after PSLE. It's just like killing 2 birds with one stone.
Last thing to talk about, GOALS, they are important and are needed. Goals lead to startegy and then action and finally to failure( it's also called LEARNING EXPERIENCE) or SUCCESS. If the result is not what you wanted, fail, then you should change the strategy and make sure it is logical. There is an example , Edison. He tried many times but only after a 1000 times of trying and he finally invented the LIGHT BULB! If he did not invent it, we could be cavemens now!
The motivational camp was inspiring and brought humour to our life. It really is useful. I can't wait for tomorrow. Oh no! 9.34 le must sleep! Bye for now!
