Today, my school had the annual sport's day it was already the 43th sport's day. Wow! my school has been around for 43 years. OK, so today we assembled at school hall. The competitors assembled at the quardrangles with their teacher-in-charge. I arrived at about 6.50 since the circular said so. But I saw other s that came after 7am and Melvin came at 7.15. I feel that we should not need to come so early as the school should give us ample time to sleep. If some people sleep at 9 like me, they still don't get enough sleep at all, even though I wake up at 6.30. If i were the principal, I would make students come later and end the schooling hours later. If only there were more hours in a day..... At around 8 o clock, NIcholas Ng called me and we went to check with Miss Koh what time we had to gather the leaders that were helping out in the sport's day. She told us that we were to do so immediately and somehow we managed to get all the leaders without using the mike.( although I tink that using the mike would have been faster) Once all the leaders had been gathered, we set off. I sat next to Bryan Ng and he was being disturbed during the whole trip to the stadium by two P5 blue house competitors. They kept pulling his hair and smacking his chair. In my opinion, I feel that they should not have done that cus it would be really uncomfortable. Furthermore, it would bring discomfort and frustration to the person that was being disturbed. If i were him, I would already have 'blown up' and smacked them.
Finally we reached the stadium and we begun to distribute the muffins and twiggies to the houses. Each house had about 140 people( that's alot don't u think?) and there were 176 COMPETITORS(FYI, if you don't know what they are, they are those who get medals and trophies and they compete in the sport's day.) After about an hour or so( we were distributing the stuff), the milo van finally arrived. We had to carry out duty 2 which was to form a 'human wall' to ensure that only 1 or two houses get their milo one at a time. Just to clarify, there are 4 duties. Duty 1 is to distribute the twiggies and muffins. Duty 2 is to form the 'human wall' to make sure people from other houses don't take milo before it is their turn.Duty 3 is the track duty, which means we have to stop people from 'spilling' on to the track like in last year it was terrible as many pupils went on the track cus they were too excited.Duty 4 is to guard the snack house. In my opinion, this duty needs more people than I had expected, there were loads of people who went to buy food and drinks. We had to tell them to only eat at the snack house and they were not able to bring food back to their houses. It was a really tedious job as many people were trying to smuggle food back to the houses. We really had to use more people than I had planned. BTW, I'm the head of planning if u don't know. I plan event's like Chinese New year and Sport's day etc. Going back to the milo van stuff. we had to deliver the milo on trays to parent's and the competitors. In my opinion, Karthigesan was really hardworking at this part as he helped a lot. When there was nobody to deliver the milo's he helped by moving extra fast and all the parents eventually drank their fill. Well, the good thing about being a leader was that we could have a free flow of milo( I drank 5 cups) and the bad thing was that we had to work extra hard to make Miss Koh proud. Once the duties were done, Miss Koh gave us extra muffins and twiggies. Although I felt really full, I ate one muffin. In my opinion, the school should inter change the food served on sport's day as it was the same when i was P4,P5 and now P6. It was really 'sian' as we had to eat the same food. Luckily there was extra sandwiches that the teachers did not want. So we managed to eat some. I think I ate 5 sandwiches. It tasted really good compared to the muffin. Next, Miss Koh gathered us at the side of the non-competitors area and praised us. She said we did more than we were expected of. Some of us even managed to do 3 or even ALL the duties. She was really grateful and said that on monday she would give us a small treat. ( I wonder what it would be?) Then, it was nearly 11.30 and I went back to my class. We had to let the P4 and 5 go first as they were younger. I feel that this is the right thing to do but the school should not have made us wait soooo long. WE had to wait for about 20 mins before the bus came. But as the saying goes, every cloud has a silver lining. We played while waiting for the bus and we laughed until our belly ached. On the bus, I sat next to Darryl and behind me was Ben and Tang JIe. WE kept singing songs like Apologize and Majulah Singapura. SO to those who read this blog, do not be alarmed if you heard people singing it was the 4 of us. And so this was how the day ended and now I am sitting in my chair blogging.
